UTS Apps Lab
Role: Digital Strategy & Growth
As a founding member of the UTS Apps Lab, I’ve helped shape its vision, direction, and overall experience, while leading its digital presence.
The Apps Lab is an incubator that supports students to design, build, and launch apps on Apple platforms. From early on, my focus was on building something that felt clear, credible, and genuinely useful for students.
One of my first challenges was developing the visual identity. I worked to find the right balance between the UTS ecosystem, Apple’s simplicity, and creating something that felt distinctly ours. The result is a brand that feels minimal yet bold, and grounded in its context.
Digital Presence
I also shaped the Lab’s digital experience and service offering. We needed something more tailored, but were working within UTS web systems and design guidelines.
Instead of seeing this as a limitation, I treated it as a design problem to solve.
Using a service design approach, I simplified user flows, clarified content hierarchy, and improved navigation using existing UTS components.
This helped create a more intuitive and accessible experience for students and startups, while still benefiting from the credibility and reach of the UTS platform.

Growth
Over time, I’ve found that I’m most drawn to the intersection of design and strategy.
Working within UTS for several years has given me a strong understanding of student founders, how they think, where they struggle, and what support actually makes a difference.
My approach combines UX research, observation, facilitation, and data-informed decisions to identify gaps and shape offerings that are practical and meaningful.
I’ve worked closely with students to refine engagement strategies, evolve learning experiences, and create clearer pathways for participation and growth.
I enjoy taking complex problems and turning them into simple, actionable solutions, then continuously improving them through feedback and real-world use.
As the Apps Lab continues to grow, so does my role. I also manage its LinkedIn presence, sharing opportunities, student outcomes, and building a broader community around the Lab.
